One-to-One Herbal Tea Therapy |
Chinese herbs are used by Chinese doctors to restore the body's natural balance of YIN and YANG. They include natural substances such as flowers, leaves, stalks, seeds and roots of various plants. Each herb has its specific healing properties and their function is often described like 'warming and invigorating', '‘cooling and calming' or more specifically, 'removing Damp form the spleen', or 'cooling Heat in the Stomach'.
There are over 400 Chinese herbs in common use. They are carefully selected and combined together as a prescription to treat patient’s individual conditions. Therefore, Chinese herbal therapy is one-to-one care and supposed to be quite effective just according to its form. Although it sometimes takes a longer time for improvements to be noticed, it brings long-term benefits or even dramatic results for some problems which western medicine does not have good measure on.
The herbs are boiled and drunk as tea. They are also made in the form of tablets, pills or syrup. During the treatment, our doctor closely monitors your progress through regular consultation, altering the prescriptions or the dosage accordingly.

Acupuncture |
Chinese Acupuncture is so different from western acupuncture because it is practiced based on the network of meridians that can only be fully understood and applied by Chinese doctors. Therefore, the aim of Acupuncture is to regulate the meridians or channels of the body to re-open the stagnation of QI by stimulating vital points. The Chinese believe that this QI can be enhanced or released by operating the needle.
Techniques of Moving Needles in Chinese Acupuncture

When the practitioner carefully inserts the needles, a patient may have sensations like slight tingling, aching or numbing. The doctor will ask the patient if they are experiencing this 'needle sensation' to determine whether the patient can Get QI (De-QI). The doctor normally will leave needles in place for about 30 minutes. An acupuncture session may contain extra Hot Cupping or Chinese Massage if the doctor thinks there is a need for some particular condition.
After acupuncture, patients normally feel relaxed or perhaps slightly sleepy. In some cases, the patient can feel symptom free and enlivened straight away. Be careful not to catch wind or coldness for a few hours after treatment.

Fire Cupping |
Fire cupping is a 2,500-year-old method to increase the circulation of Qi and blood. Practitioners use fire cupping to treat breathing difficulties such as asthma, cough, and chest tightness. Fire cupping is also used to treat cold and flu symptoms, gastrointestinal difficulties, menstrual pain, neck and shoulder pain, low back pain, and sciatica.
Evolving from the use of horns and bamboo cups, the technique currently uses glass jars or magnetic suction devices.
When using the glass jar fire cupping technique, liniment (an oil-type substance) is put onto the area of the skin to be treated. Using long tongs, a practitioner takes a cotton ball that has been soaked in 91% alcohol and lights it on fire. The cotton ball is moved inside the jar to remove the oxygen, then the fire is taken out and the cup is placed on the client's skin where the liniment is applied. A vacuum is created and the skin is sucked up into the jar. The cup stays on the skin for 5-15 minutes, though the practitioner may slide the cups along the skin to increase circulation in the surrounding areas. The skin will become dark red or purple in color as blood is moved to the area of the suction. The client may have circular bruises that last for several days. Symptoms will be reduced or alleviated after treatment.
Many clients enjoy being fire cupped. It is neither painful nor dangerous. The sensation may feel like your skin is being pulled tightly and you can feel the suction. The jar will feel warm when it contacts the skin, when the jar is slid over your skin it may be sensitive but not uncomfortable.
One should keep the treated area covered and warm (for example wear a scarf if your neck was treated) and avoid exposure to wind and cold after treatment. Fire cupping should only be done by a trained professional.

Moxibustion |
Moxibustion is a technique used in traditional Chinese medicine in which a stick or cone of burning mugwort, Artemesia vulgaris, is placed over an inflamed or affected area on the body. The cone is placed on an acupuncture point and burned. The cones is removed before burning the skin. The purpose is to stimulate and strengthen the blood and the life energy, or QI, of the body.
Origins
The actual Chinese character for acupuncture literally translates into "acupuncture-moxibustion." More than 3,000 years ago, during the Shang Dynasty in China, hieroglyphs of acupuncture and moxibustion were found on bones and tortoise shells, meaning the practice precedes that date. The root word, "moxa" is actually derived from the Japanese.
Benefits
Moxibustion is used for people who have a cold or stagnant condition. The moxa stick is burned to warm up the blood and qi that are not circulating well. It is particularly known for its ability to turn breech presentation babies into a normal head-down position that is considered safer during childbirth. In a 1998 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, 75% of the pregnant women in the study had breech fetuses that turned in the normal position. Moxibustion significantly increases fetal movements in pregnant women. Moxibustion is also used to treat inflammations. For example, if treating a patient with tendinitis, the moxa stick is burned over the elbow area. It is also highly regarded for menstrual cramps, where the stick is waved over the abdominal area. Often, the cramps disappear immediately.
Moxa on acupuncture points is frequently done with acupuncture treatment for many kinds of ailments. The treatment brings warmth and helps strengthen the activity of the blood.

Reflexology |
Reflexology is the practice of stimulating nerves on the feet, hands and ears, in order to encourage a beneficial effect on some other parts of the body, or to try to improve general health. Reflexology is most commonly performed on the feet, moving on to the hands and/or ears where physical restraints, such as veruccas or fractures, apply.
Practitioners believe the foot to be divided into a number of reflex zones corresponding to all zones of the energy of the body, and that applying pressure in the form of massage to "tight" or "gritty" areas of a person's foot will stimulate the corresponding part of the energy body and assist the self-healing process. Contrary to some beliefs, reflexology does not seek to diagnose or cure medical conditions - merely imbalances in the life energy (QI) of the body.

Ear Candle |
"Ear candling," also known as auricular candling or coning, refers to various procedures that involve placing a cone-shaped device in the ear canal and supposedly extracting earwax and other impurities with the help of smoke or a burning wick. The origins of candling are obscure. Ancient Tibet, China, Egypt, the pre-Columbian Americas, and even the mythical city of Atlantis are cited as possible contributors. The procedures supposedly create a low-level vacuum that draws wax and other debris out of the ear canal. Some proponents even claim that impurities are removed from the inner ear, the facial sinuses, or even the brain itself, all of which are somehow connected to the canal.
